Pull the head off. Then just below the eye, between the eyeball and the beginning of the tenticles make a clean cut.


Pull the clear quill out. This runs the whole length of the tube, or body.






The skin should peel off quite easily. Finally turn inside out and rinse well. Done! not you can stuff with leftover rice, egg, and cheese... or slice into rings, quickly pan frying.. or even breading and deep frying till nicly browned.

Fresh squid (calamari) I picked up for dinner the other night. I thought I would show you how to clean one yourself, to save some money.. I think this should be something every seafood lover knows how to do, and gets to do at least once.

First we unpack the squid and rinse under cold running water.
This is a nice piece of Pickeral (left) and a smaller piece of Orange Roughy.
